Passionate student gun owners at the University of Connecticut speak of their history with guns and the current state of the gun situation on campus. Joshua Weiss, Patrick Rogers, and Chris Beaulieu are members of the Pistol and Rifle Club and the Skeet and Trap Club. They all own 3 or more guns and shoot weekly at the Rockville Fish and Game Club.
It is at this shooting range where they store their weapons and open their shooting sessions to the public. Students can pay $8 for a day of shooting with the members. They work one on one with many newcomers in terms of how to load a gun, how to shoot them, how to aim them etc., for obvious safety reasons.
But what is it about shooting or owing a gun they take pleasure in the most? How do they cope with the criticism of being an avid gun owner? And how do they feel about not being able to carry their legal weapon around with them when they are on campus?
